Since Google TV was first announced back in May at I/O, we’ve been hearing up and down that it would be launched in the fall. Well, if Intel CEO Paul Otellini’s words hold true, we now have a more definitive date.
Otellini, speaking to the Wall Street Journal, has revealed that Google TV will begin shipping this month, although he did not specifically mention when, or which products may be included. If I were a betting man, I would put my money on either the Logitech Revue, or the Dish box, but I am a terrible gambler, so take that for what it’s worth.
He also revealed that Intel is responsible for 50% of the code in Google TV, which may reveal just how important the CPU is in all of this. Also, when asked about the new Apple TV, he answered that they are two different products that will likely appeal to two different audiences.
That’s all the information we have for you right now, but stay tuned for more details as this story develops. Continue reading »
