Sony Google TV devices got the Honeycomb update this week, and though us GTV Hub-ers are still waiting on the Revue to come around, TechCrunch is already talking 2.0. In summary, they are dubbing it beautiful but not brilliant– a definite improvement but still with vasst short fallings. As more and more reviews surface it will be interesting to see if this is the general consensus: did Google miss their mark again? Hopefully Logitech will jump on the 2.0 bandwagon in a hurry, so I can find out for myself! Stay tuned folks, the GTV Hub Google TV 2.0 Official Review is soon to come!
Honeycomb Leaked for Logitech Revue…Again!
A second leak of the Honeycomb build for the Logitech Revue indicates that things are coming along nicely: it appears that the beta bugs have been worked out and Netflix functionality is back (hallelujah!). Word is that it runs better, too, and users have reported that Google TV specific apps are finally hitting the Android Market. Looks like things are finally on track such that the next “leak” may be official. Stay tuned for more details as we move ever closer to Honeycomb’s release!

The Logitech Mini Controller is an optional controller for the Logitech Revue priced at $129.99.The Revue ships with a full-sized QWERTY wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad, so this optional accessory offers the same control in a much smaller package.
With its sleek form factor and smaller size, the Logitech Mini Controller is certainly a more practical means of controlling the Logitech Revue. However, is the hefty price worth it for a bit of convenience and aesthetic appeal? Continue reading below to find out with our review of the Logitech Mini Controller.
A lot of people were waiting to hear what The New York Times’ David Pogue and the Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg had to say about Google TV. David Pogue got his word in a couple of days ago, and it certainly wasn’t what Google wanted to hear. Now Walt Mossberg has said his piece, and it’s in tune with Pogues feelings that Google TV just isn’t ready for prime time. The following quote pretty much sums up his feelings about Google TV.
“Google TV is trying to do a lot, which is admirable, but doesnt quite pull it off in a way thats easy or understandable or fluid, and it doesnt actually fulfill all its promises.”
He also goes on to say that its not ready, not finished, and not well integrated. So in short, both Mossberg and Pogue have given pretty dismal reviews of Google TV, but I really think both men are missing the bigger picture here. The potential for Google TV is massive, and while the platform suffers from some shortcomings now, it is laying the groundwork to be something truly impressive. Continue after the break to see Mossberg’s video review of Google TV.
A lot of people were waiting to hear what The New York Time’s David Pogue had to say about Google TV, and it isn’t pretty. In a rather scathing review, Pogue dismissed the platform as too complicated, filled with inconsistencies, and is too expensive. The following quote pretty much sums up his feelings about the platform:
This much is clear: Google TV may be interesting to technophiles, but it’s not for average people. On the great timeline of television history, Google TV takes an enormous step in the wrong direction: toward complexity.
If you’ve read our review of the Google TV Platform you’ll see that we also expressed rather negative viewpoints at times. However, I feel that Pogue has failed to see the potential of Google TV, which will begin to fully reveal itself with the addition of the Android Market and updates to the Android OS. When Google TV was first announced at Google’s I/O developer conference, I immediately saw the potential. Google TV’s Product Manager Rishi Chandra gave the first Google TV keynote address, where he outlined the potential for developers to reach a market of over four billion users, and the chance to revolutionize the way people use television around the world.
Almost six months later, and Google TV is finally here.
Has Google TV been able to live up to the hype? Has Google built a platform which will continue to expand well into the future? Is the average consumer ready to cut the cord? Or, will Google TV succumb to the fact that traditional cable and satellite is not going away?

We’ve already brought your our review of the Logitech Revue itself, so now it’s time to talk about accessories. The Logitech TV Cam allows you to experience HD video calling from the comfort of your living room.
With its sleek design and black, glossy finish, the Logitech TV cam looks great on just about any TV. Sure, it looks beautiful, but is its performance as good as its looks? Continue reading to find out, as GTVHub reviews the Logitech TV Cam accessory for the Logitech Revue.
Before we get started, it should be noted that this is strictly a review of the Logitech Revue hardware itself, in addition to what Logitech has brought to the table in terms of unique software. We will be doing a separate review of the Google TV software itself later on in the week, as we felt it necessary to separately critique what Logitech has brought to the table.
Since Google TV was first announced at I/O back in May, I have been eagerly anticipating not just the Google TV software itself, but all of the different hardware and associated peripherals. I have been a Logitech user for over ten years and have always been impressed with the quality of their products, whether it be a keyboard, gaming mouse, PC speaker system, or any of the other Logitech products I’ve owned over the years.
Needless to say, I had a lot of expectations for Logitech’s Google TV product, aka the Revue. So, was Logitech able to live up to the expectations that resulted from years of product use? Continue reading below for our full review of the Logitech Revue.
After reviewing Google TV, it would appear that The Washington Post is not completely sold on the search giant’s foray into TV. The article wastes no time in making the comparison to devices like Apple TV and Roku, and states that “Google TV has a difficult job to do. And it does it poorly.”
The author cites a lack of overall intuitiveness during the setup process, something we also expressed during our initial impressions of the Logitech Revue. The article does praise the menu layout and navigation of the Google TV interface, but complains that it does not go far enough in that (unless you are a DISH customer) you do not have a means of exploring your DVR content through Google TV, and are forced to navigate your provider’s hardware interface.
We are getting ready to finally to publish our reviews of Google TV and the Logitech Revue associated hardware, beginning with a review strictly of the Revue hardware with a review of the Google TV software itself to follow. For now, though, here are a few of the reviews of Google TV from around the web:

Google TV Review of Logitech Revue Box, Controller – eWeek
Sony Internet TV Blu-ray Player with Google TV review – BGR
