The first Vizio Co-Star pre-orders began shipping last week, and units are starting to arrive in people’s hands. The Co-Star is still listed as “sold out” on the pre-order page, which raises questions about the number of units that were produced for this first set of orders.
In terms of what’s inside the box, it appears to just be the bare essentials: the unit itself, remote control plus batteries, power adapter and the manual/warranty information.
The low cost of the device ($99) makes it directly competitive with the Apple TV, which could be enticing to consumers. Until exact numbers are released we won’t know how successful the Co-Star will be for Vizio, but it appears to be off to a great start.
