Your source for everything Google TV

A lot of people were waiting to hear what The New York Time’s David Pogue had to say about Google TV, and it isn’t pretty. In a rather scathing review, Pogue dismissed the platform as too complicated, filled with inconsistencies, and is too expensive. The following quote pretty much sums up his feelings about the platform:

This much is clear: Google TV may be interesting to technophiles, but it’s not for average people. On the great timeline of television history, Google TV takes an enormous step in the wrong direction: toward complexity.

If you’ve read our review of the Google TV Platform you’ll see that we also expressed rather negative viewpoints at times. However, I feel that Pogue has failed to see the potential of Google TV, which will begin to fully reveal itself with the addition of the Android Market and updates to the Android OS. There is No complexity, even Windows & PC could do more than one thing and even more than Google TV but still people could use it to crunch numbers or watch video or write document or Listen music or Video calling or Gaming or internet browsing or sharing media or social networking or stream media or print documents.

so how Google TV is complex

I don’t understand the negativity. It is a fantastic platform. If it fails, it won’t be for lack of effort by Google. It takes a risk to reap rewards. Some people are cursed with sight without the gift of vision.

Love Google TV, but hate the interface. Get rid of all the text, replace it with logo bookmark buttons so launching a function is as easy as using your phone or ipad. Make it easy for users to turn any favorite channel into a bookmark button. That’s my suggestion.

What a douche…if Google TV is too complicated for you then GET OUT OF THE ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY. Man, talk about an old white guy who is afraid of new things. Douche. My girlfriend figured it out in less than an hour and I would say she is “general public”.

I have 100% the opposite view point. I have a windows media center, an xBox live, a Wii, and an Apple TV (new one). The Apple TV is simple, but doesn’t do everything you need to do, plus it doesn’t integrate with my cable/sat programming.

My kids and wife have no issue using Google TV, and actually find it easier than the built in Comcast guide for finding programming.

I agree with Calem — this guy is a douche. Always has been, and an Apple lackey to boot.
