Logitech has announced that they are holding a special event in San Francisco next Wednesday, October 6, in order to formally introduce the Logitech Revue. The company is also expected to launch an associated webcam for convenient, HD video calling, which would likely utilize Logitech’s Vid HD platform.
Logitech CEO Jerry Quindlen will be on hand for the event, will will be a logical platform for announcing an official launch date as well. The current rumored date is October 17, with Best Buy being the most likely retail location for consumers to purchase Google TV products.
We’ll be bringing you all the details from Logitech’s event, so stay tuned.

We brought you a story last week that Logitech was rumored to begin shipping the Revue on September 29, which just so happens to be today. DigiTimes is now reporting that Logitech has in fact begun to ship the Revue to large retail chains like Best Buy, and is expected to move around 500,000 units by the end of this year. This, in combination with Sony’s Google TV powered Internet TV and Blu-ray player, puts an estimated 1 million Google TV units out into the wild this year.
With all the information swirling around about release dates, and which products are going to be available, it’s starting to look like the rumored October 17. release date is going to hold true. Furthermore, with Sony’s Internet TV being demonstrated at Best Buy’s holiday preview event yesterday, along with this new information about the Revue, it is also likely that both the Sony devices and the Logitech Revue are going to be available in Best Buy retail locations beginning October 17.
Again, no official announcement has been made by either Logitech, Sony, or Best Buy, so take this information with a grain of salt. However, the evidence is very compelling, and we will certainly be surprised if it doesn’t hold true.

We mentioned yesterday that Google was on hand at Best Buy’s holiday preview event to demonstrate Google TV, and now we have the pictures to show for it. Nothing that was shown off yesterday is anything new, although HDGuru notes a USB-mounted WiFi dongle mounted at the rear of the unit (see image below).
We’re not sure the reason behind the WiFi dongle, but it could perhaps mean that the Sony Internet TV does not come with WiFi built in. Again, these photos are nothing we haven’t seen below, but you can check out the image gallery courtesy of Engadget here.

Posting on their official Twitter page, the Google TV team revealed that Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn thinks that Google TV will be a top gift this holiday season, and they have to agree. Google representatives are on hand at Best Buy’s holiday gadget preview event in New York today, and they are giving demonstrations of Google TV.
This could perhaps be due in part to the rumors from earlier this month surrounding an internal Best Buy document showing a Google TV launch date of October 17th. We’re curious to know what products Google is demonstrating at the Best Buy event today, as they would be a likely indication of what products are hitting shelves at Best Buy perhaps as early as this month. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

By now, Sony’s Internet TV with Google TV is no big secret. Nevertheless, invites are going out for a special event in New York City on October 12th, and Google TV is the subject at hand. They will likely be showing off their Internet TV, as well as their Google TV enabled Blu-ray player. Again, we’re not expecting anything major to be announced, but we’ll certainly be bringing you all the happenings during the event. Stay tuned!
Well, it’s been a long wait, but Logitech has finally announced the “Host with the Most” winners. A big hearty congratulations goes to:
Los Angeles: Rob Blasko
New York City: Praneet Kailey
San Francisco: Nixie Pixel
It’s nice to see two of our interviewees, Rob and Praneet, heading off to their dream job, and a big congrats to Nixie as well. We’re certainly looking forward to checking out a couple of these lofts, and bringing you some great photos and videos of the events, as well as people enjoying the Logitech Revue! Stay tuned for more information.

Chris Camilletti, a desktop product manager at Dell, said Thursday that the company is currently investigating the connected TV market. They are interested in set-top-box prototypes that could seamlessly bring the internet to television.
Although they have yet to announce a product officially, he did mention that Google TV software was being considered. Though at the moment Dell is producing TV compatible computers, it seems likely that the company will be breaking into the streaming television market in much the same way as Sony and Samsung. We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on this.

Why Logitech, why? Just when we thought the horror was over, Logitech has unleashed part 5 of their Lonely TV ad campaign upon the unsuspecting masses. This time, we learn that if we do not buy Google TV, our TVs will start dancing a lovely little jig while we cower in fear. I sincerely hope this is the last time we have to watch one of these ads, but why do I know deep down it’s not over?

Robert Kyncl has been picked up by Google, following an executive position at Netflix. His new title, VP of content partnerships, suggests that Google TV is getting serious about landing providers for their service.
As mentioned in our previous entry, 5 things Google TV needs to be successful, getting these types of partnerships is absolutely crucial. Kyncl was able to rake in thousands of stream-able titles from multiple providers during his 7-year stay at Netflix and the hope is that he will do the same at Google.

Engadget is reporting, via an anonymous tipster, that the Logitech Revue will be officially launching on September 29th. The Google TV device will come with a standard retail price of $299.99, but Dish customers will reportedly be able to purchase one for a much lower price of $179.99.
If this is true, and the photo evidence seen below indicates that it is, does this mean that Dish’s Google TV powered set-top-boxes are not ready to be released yet? It would also perhaps explain why the Google Zeitgiest attendees we mentioned the other day went home with a 6 month Dish subscription for free.
Again, until an official press release is made by Google or Logitech, this has to be filed under the rumor category. The images are certainly compelling, but we’re by no means going to call this one a done deal… yet. Check out a few insider images below, and join us in trying to figure out their exact origin.
