There is a lot of buzz over the recently announced Apple event being held next Wednesday, September 1st, in San Fransisco. Rumors have been running rampant over the expected announcement of Apple’s long awaited revamp of Apple TV, backed by reports from MacRumors and Bloomburg.
Well, there are others now predicting that the event will be focused primarily on its music line, including announcements about the iPod and iTunes. Many are speculating that Apple TV 2.0 will be nothing more than an afterthought, or may not even be announced at all. This would coincide with recent remarks by Apple CEO Steve Jobs that iTV (the rumored relaunch name) will not be a mainstream success, and that consumers are not ready to part with their cable or satellite providers.
Both Google and Apple have been in the press recently, over media skepticism that both companies are having difficulty convincing Hollywood studios to jump on the Internet TV bandwagon. This is likely to be a central focus for the media, until either company can show they are making some headway in gaining network support for Google TV and Apple TV respectively.
