More good news for Google TV today as new reports are indicating that sales of Internet TVs will enjoy an increase of roughly 125% this year. Despite the over-hyped nature of 3D TV, Internet TV has been growing at a steady pace, and that growth is expected to continue over the next several years. This new report comes from iSuppli, which estimates that about 4 million 3-D TVs will ship this year, compared to nearly 28 million projected for Internet TVs, representing a 124.9 percent growth over last year. The firm suggests that, while 3D television may become more popular in the future, high costs and lack of content will keep numbers down for a while at least. This news also bodes well for chip makers, who are expected to see revenues for Internet TV chips increase to nearly 2 billion this year, up from 222 million in 2009. Of course, as more players emerge and technology changes, these projected numbers could shift dramatically. For now though, these reports should give Google, and their partners, something to smile about.
